This might be the wrong place to ask but is getting a car worth it?

I think it’ll somewhat improve QOL but with parking, insurance, gas and financing costs I’m not sure spending almost 1K/month is a good idea at 22.

The other problem is that used cars are so damn expensive right now so I can’t just buy a used mx5 for 5-10K

Highly depends on your situation. I went without one for as long as I could (eg until kids showed up) and don't regret it. We'd rent a car for short term trips etc. That said, with a car you can choose to live in a lower cost area of your city and make up some of that $$ difference.

likehelpful

Consider pricing out rentals or Zipcars if this is what's driving it for you. Your company may have a great discount you can use for personal use too.

I hate cars and hate how expensive they are. They go down in value the moment you sign on the dotted line and pull out of the dealership. That being said, I have to buy one soon and it kills me a little inside lol.

Pay cash if you can or else finance part of it if you can get a really low rate. I hate debt though so I usually just pay it off.

When to sell at a loss?

I’m 26 and have a fair chunk of my NW tied to Cloudflare - a tech stock that I believe has the opportunity to 3x and become a $100b+ company over the long term. Similarly, I have a lot in cloud computing etf - WCLD.

Given short term rotation out of growth stocks, I’m confused on what to do. I think we still have some time before growth stocks bottom out, but do I sell?

I would consider myself a “long only” investor, but am unsure what to do given my lack of diversif

Is there any realistic way where tipping in the US goes away and we start to be like other countries (e.g. Europe/Asia)? Raise the price of the food, pay servers a fair wage, no tips? Just a dream 😅

I'm guessing no because businesses will fight hard against this (customers subsidize wages) and certain servers benefit from tipping as well.

Only other thing I can think of is if everyone collectively decides not to ever tip again and it forces business to change. Won't happen though.
