what the hell do recruiters know anyway, get through the recruiter stage and when you meet with the hiring manager or the department head, bring up salary negotiations with them. Recruiters don't typically have the authority to negotiation salaries
That is Absolutely Not True. Recruiters are usually the only ones who have the authority to negotiate salaries. Most companies leave hiring managers out of the negotiation process for compliance purposes. You can always negotiate your offer, and let the recruiter know “I would like to counter at $$$”. If they have offered a written offer letter in workday select the counter button, which usually prompts a response from the recruiter.
I recently negotiated a salary above what the recruiter quoted. I agreed to interview but was candid with the hiring manager that I wasn’t sure the salary would work for me considering the workload of the new role. At the end of the process, they did select me and I did say no because of salary. They came back with a bigger salary 3 days later. I wasn’t trying to negotiate I just genuinely wasn’t willing to do the work for $225k. It was a $275k job.
I guess you could say I’m just a $275k kinda guy.
I’d recommend pushing for more if you're confident about the salary discrepancy. You can use data from tools like Glassdoor to back up your case, even if they say the salary is non-negotiable. If they’re firm on the salary, consider negotiating other perks, like more PTO or flexible work options.
Recruiters recruit. Get through the interview process, make the hiring manager love your skills and attitude, and negotiate the salary you deserve. If they can't pay, they can't pay. I interviewed with a company and we stalled out at salary because they didn't have budget approved before they interviewed candidates. They pulled the job and created a lower level one at about 1/2 my salary request.
I would let it be. Since the recruiter told you that the salary cannot be negotiated, I wouldn't negotiate. You could risk losing the offer. Good luck!
Get through the recruiter and then tell the hiring manager they promised you $10k over whatever your desired salary is.
