Product designer with research and product manager experience mostly in tech trying to find ways to pivot OUT of tech, or go adjacent maybe at a non-profit. Curious if anyone has been successful pitching themselves when you're pivoting.

I have a list of things I'd love to pivot to but really struggle because everyone expects previous experience in that role.

Deciding on a career path

I feel like my brain works like a consultant, and I would enjoy consulting, but I also looove all things finance & investing. While I don’t necessarily have extensive experience in the field (most of what I know is self taught, my major is accounting), I want to get involved in it somehow and learn more.

So I used to work for a company where my job was good, was a director of business solutions for a fashion brand. Only issue was that the CFO micromanaged and ended up leaving. My background is digital transformation however I took an infrastructure position to rebuild a provincial healthcare system.
