I was recently certified as a personal trainer, though I am not a runner. Based on what I’ve learned part of it is genetics and a large part is body mechanics. Most of us don’t have good proprioception and if we’re not explicitly taught the best or most functional way to engage in an exercise or movement we can develop poor/inefficient movement patterns. Over time that leads to imbalances and wears on our joints. Working with a trainer or a coach for a little while might be a good thing. You don’t necessarily need someone to tell you to run 5 miles. Rather, you need someone trained in anatomy and functional movement analysis to observe you and help you make corrections. Does that help at all?

Yes I feel the pain on my knee
I developed chrondomalacia patella (knee pain) from spin class. Apparently I was not setting up the bike correctly
It depends on volume, mechanics, and if you have a preexisting condition/minor muscle-skeletal defect. Basically what SC1 said.
If you feed your body what it needs, you will be fine.
I think running brings too much impact to the knee, I don’t like it
