Bain & Company I’m currently prepping for Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company interviews scheduled in the next 2 months. For those that interviewed with both, how would you suggest I tailor my preparation for each one? I understand McKinsey is interviewer led while Bain is the opposite. But other than that, is there anything else I should work on separately for each one?

If you are going to try and move firms, do it ASAP. If applying on your own or going through a recruiter, your choices will get a lot worse if the PIP turns into a layoff.

I’ve already been applying. I’m under no illusions and aware this all pretext to being laid off.

I also want to know the firm. Feel really bad for you.
This is literally my story as well. Sorry to hear that you’re going through this.
I had one too. Got a new job but it was really really painful trying to perform under that. But I left. There is hope. If they PIP you it’s because they’d rather you leave quietly. Use that to your advantage. Be seen to be asking for work. Accept any formal mentorship programs your firm has. Affirmatively sign up for trainings. Be visible. Ask for work in writing and save record of it. Make them have to work hard to paper trail this. Be friendly and agreeable and be there every single in office day. Buy yourself time to get out.
Be willing to go downstream. Work with ChatGPT on a plausible story for why you’re leaving. I did that and got a nice role. I’d rather be at a lower ranked or non ranked firm than have to try to explain a gap
Same here, very recent lateral
Firm? Dm me if you don’t want to put here
Could also be that you’re just not the right fit. Have you tried to introduce yourself to people and get work? Are you getting positive / negative feedback on work product you’ve delivered? Unfortunately, I’ve seen instances where it becomes apparent quickly on that a lateral is not a good fit for the group.
Totally agree with A8
