Question for y'all, do you let your dogs get on the furniture in your home? If so, is everything free game or do you still set some boundaries (e.g. couch is fine, but not the bed). I'd love to hear your reasoning if possible, we're getting our first dog and still figuring out what rules we want to set for the house. Thanks!

My dog is allowed on everything we use (with the exception of chairs at the kitchen table lol). It’s one of my great joys to see my dog get comfy on the couch or bed just like us. There’s no right or wrong way - just love on your new pup, and the rest will come

I have a corgi, so he is one of the breeds vulnerable to back injuries from jumping on/off furniture or on stairs. He’s allowed on the couch, but not allowed to jump on and off on his own. He knows how to ask when he wants to go up or down. 😊

Denver is only allowed on the couch or bed if one of her blankets is on it. Mostly to try and isolate the shedding

Do I let my dogs on the furniture and bed, Huh, The question should be " Do my dogs allow me on my furniture and bed" and the answer is it's a fight to get a spot for myself

Bruh seriously. Denver is a medium sized dog but she somehow takes up my entire bed. I have to gently slide her over to one side so I can get in bed

My dog could borrow my car if he needs to. He sleeps with me and we both feel safer.

Our dogs are allowed everywhere. When I try to read or nap on the couch, I have 130 lbs of weighted pit bull blanket on me!

My dog isn’t allowed on the bed but has a very nice plush ortho bed next to the bed. Otherwise she can do what she wants. She’s respectful of the boundaries.

Solid no on bed cause I’m allergic and as for couch I don’t mind cause I love to cuddle. But my husband does cause we had a rescue that peed on it once will I was sitting there. So in truth whatever makes you comfortable. But look out for the hair.

Some people like their bed to be really clean. If you are a pre bed showerer vs morning showerer than yes. I don’t even like to sit on my bed with work clothing that’s been outside all day.

like

Yeah my dog is allowed on everything - we did teach him the on and off command for when we want him off things (like the bed when making it).

like

This is his chair. Other people can sit in it, but it’s his favorite cozy spot.

That way he can keep an eye on his whole domain.

My dogs have their own couch and know to stay off the "people" furniture. The bed is mostly off limits unless there is a thunderstorm during the night, like last night (it was easier than listening to her cry and whimper)

To each their own, as long as it’s consistent. I’ve had issues when visiting friends and family bc my dog is allowed on furniture at home but then they’ll want me to keep her off theirs and she just doesn’t get it. I personally love to cuddle with my dog, so on the furniture was the obvious choice but in hindsight I wish there was a piece or two that I taught her not to be on so she didn’t think all furniture was okay for the purposes of visiting others and travel.

Any tips for organizing a bedroom, closet, dresser & bathroom? My teen has IADHD, and low executive functioning. Her room looks like a land mine. Clean clothes are mixed in with dirty, her desk is a disaster, she won’t let go of clothes she’s outgrown, drawers are open with clothes hanging out. A therapist said to close her door if we don’t want to see it but it’s more than that. She needs this important life skill & I don’t know how to help. Easier to organize w/o her but that’s not a solution.
