They haven’t learned until they have listened
😂 ok!
I was told early on in my teaching career that there's a huge difference between being taught something and learning something. Learning requires active engagement and hard work from the learner (but y'all know that!).
Just because a quote is typed onto some vaguely beautiful background doesn't mean it's worth reading! 😆😆
Just googled John Wooden... He was a basketball player and coach. That's all I needed to know! Lol
I JUST had a mother tell me today to please stop allowing late and retakes because her son is milking it and is not learning life skills because of it. 🧐
Just doing practice of a concept to earn a grade, is no where near the same thing as exploring how to figure out problems on our own, and actually learning the skill and having the ability to apply it to new situations. That is the difference between deadlines, and learning. Open ended isn't ideal, however, it has a deadline. It certainly cannot drag out too long. My point is, when they have to problem solve and use what they know to find what they don't know, they are more likely to master the concept which is the ultimate goal.
Idk I get what the quote is getting at.. but from personal experiences I struggled in math until college. The teachers tried everything bless their souls, but I didn’t understand until college. Besides our brains don’t fully develop til 25 anyways. Sometimes the learning comes later in life.
YES!!!! As a math teacher yes I agree 💯. Everyone gets it at a different point, some just aren’t ready for the complex and abstract part of math until later. That’s OKAY.
I feel we don’t learn until we fail. You have to fail so you know you need to learn.
The original meme only applies to students who are trying in the first place.
That being said I allow retests of sorts.
Penn HS what do you teach?
Algebra
Stats
I think this meme applies best for basketball. Drill until you get it. Obviously, that would work for anything you are trying to learn, but it isn't quite as easy to apply to some academic subjects.
Can't believe some teachers don't know who John Wooden was. He was the coach that led UCLA to something like 11 NCAA championships in 15 years.
Because it isn’t
