What have you found to be good ways to help bridge gaps left from time out of class due to Covid? I teach 6th grade. We use iReady but feel like there are other sources I could use that would help fill in learning gaps.

Some of our teachers are using Khan Academy to boost up the things that kids missed out on last year. Personally, I don’t care for iReady. My suggested would be to focus on tying in last years standards to this years work. I believe it’s safe to say that our kids aren’t behind - they’re exactly where they should be after missing months of school.

Is your school virtual or in person this year?

IXL for math.

Delta Math. There is a free version

Thank you. I've never heard of Delta math.

I have found Prodigy to work better than Khan Academy for the gaps. You can assign the gap skills for them to work on and they like the games that go with it.

I have used DeltaMath for several years. Students love it and often ask for it as an additional resource.

Interview tomorrow for a tax associate opening at RSM. Been working in a mid-size city (different firm) that is about 70 minutes from this new home office in a larger metro. How flexible is WFH or dual model going forward post Covid? Am interested in this position and going to tax, but not be able to relocate for family reasons. Don’t want to drive 700 miles per week M-F. What will dual model be like going forward? 1-2 times week, 4-5 month? Seems like tax was more flexible than audit pre-Covid

Do you find working remotely during this time that you’re having a harder time staying on top of everything that’s going on? With the scattered communication and a boss who hasn’t been as focused and can be hard to pin down, I sometimes think I’m giving 150% but something ends up lagging and I’m just wiped out. Question: can an employer legally withhold your personal possessions after you leave the firm? I left my old firm recently and they were not happy about me joining another consultancy. They are withholding any belongings that I left in the office and have ignored my emails asking to arrange a pick up or delivery of my personal items. I understand the covid19 environment impacts the situation, but anything I can do to get my stuff back? Any help would be appreciated. I’m based in NYC!

TLDR: Getting over your ex of 2.5 years ghosting you after they said they wanted to reconnect.

I was dating someone for about 2.5 years and then we broke up because of COVID and the long distance was making it too difficult to continue. The break up must’ve been like a 4-5 minute FaceTime because I was very distraught. After we broke up, she started seeing someone else but I was heartbroken and it’s taken me over a year to really get over everything and process those feelings. (Cont.)

Okay, it’s time to stop putting on a face about this. I love my boyfriend so much, but covid is ruining us. We are both still WFH and argue every few days about the dumbest stuff. My and his mental health are both diminishing and it feels like an impossible trench to dig out of. My stomach hurts every time we fight and I (independent of him) feel so stuck in this horrible global crisis. I don’t want to lose him, but I need to figure out how to dig us both out of this unsustainable mental state.

If anyone is looking for a last minute volunteer for panel and speakers for AAPI. Please DM me. I’ve been stuck in a Covid loop and forgot about this time of the year. Would love to be part of the events.

So covid creative is going to be a longtime reality—and ideas how to handle? Seriously struggling with how to refresh concepts given the lengthy news cycle...and people are hungry for more. Right?
