Quick Friday rant… Seniors, have juniors gotten worse? We recruit heavily off-cycle as we are a small IB (EU) with multi-country presence. The CVs I’ve seen this year are all-time terrible with spelling mistakes and/or GPT-based and some I’ve interviewed have terrible attitudes and zero humility. Obviously there’s been many great candidates as well, passionate about IB etc., understand they have to learn (and show willingness to do so) but the bad candidate rate seems to be higher than before.

Any thoughts on BNP M&A in nyc

Difference in A1 stub bonus when joining in March vs. summer as usual? I’m joining early, but still part of the 2022 Class.

Nyc based. Is it at all possible to make at least 200 base in corp dev or strategy at a tech company? Super burned out but don’t want to take a paycut in base. I realize I’ll never make all in comp the same in tech but if I can match base I’d be content.

Say I work in tech and have a decent finance experience. Would my 3 yoe of domain "expertise" in tech make me an attractive bet for the banks Tech coverage team? In other words, does having experience in Tech make me more hireable for IBD?

I’m four months into my job and I got put onto a PIP. I worked so hard to break into IB, put up all the hours and even working 2am nights for weeks, learned a ton, and improved a lot along the way as the sole analyst yet this happens. I’m extra worried because it doesn’t seem there’s IB analyst positions out there. Im really hoping come January more positions come up but I’m just praying they don’t fire me until then. Anyone have general tips for this situation?

I'm at a smaller MM bank. My original goal was to start here and hustle through into a BB, but I wasn't expecting to really like the people (my team, my direct seniors).
