You’ll become the one ‘my friend in Jersey’.
Hahaha!
Nothing wrong with JC esp if you spend the bulk of your time below 14th St when coming into Manhattan. Weekend PATH service is still garbage, so plan on a few Ubers here and there.

Oooo thanks for the tip!

The biggest downside for me was simply that none of my friends lived on that side of the river, so I was always going into the city to do literally anything. I realized I much prefer living in the same neighborhood or within a couple neighborhoods.
Also the PATH runs very infrequently late at night and cars back are expensive.
Other than that, though, I really liked JC a lot.

Hmmmm. I lived by Grove because I felt it was better for my commute, but I do like the waterfront and circumstances have changed. (New job, I don’t go out anymore anyway, etc.) Whole Foods + the ferry to W39 might get me to take another look.
FiDi is very upscale now with modern buildings. Welcome back.
Really depends on your lifestyle and what you want. For me and my husband it works well! We go into the city a few times a week, assuming one expensive late night cab a week. Otherwise there are many nice restos, cafés bars in the area. We are in Paulus hook about 5 blocks from the waterfront, paying $3k for a 2 bed with private rooftop. Husband works in WTC and I work in WV so we get the exchange place and grove st path respectively w/no changes. And we save about $1k per month in NYC taxes.

When people ask where you live you’ll have to say “Jersey City” 🤢

If you are single you will have a harder time finding dates
Appreciate the concern A1! Agreed with SC1 - not a factor for me.

Making the move from Fidi to Jersey city. Friends are great but with my job I realistically only see them on weekends so that’s just 1-2 slightly longer train rides. I shop online so groceries not a problem. Also a partner who’s really into you won’t mind traveling even from Harlem to JC to be with you. And then there’s the tax and rent savings. JC is a winner
Thanks. I only started saving once I left NYC and it is really nice to see your finances improve with each paycheck. The opportunity to save is weighing more on the balance for me as well. Good luck with your move!
You can always come to Brooklyn as well but no tax savings.
