I live at 137 and Broadway and it’s been great. I previously lived in Morningside heights. Definitely more trash and rougher around the edges but I feel safe even when walking my dog around late at night. I typically order my groceries for convenience but there are a ton of markets (both indoor and outdoor) and bodegas around.

Thanks. Could I ask you to speak more about trash/ rough around the edges. I mean all of New York has a lot trash. Is comparable to another neighborhood in the city just as a reference point perhaps?
I live on 141 between Amsterdam and Convent. Been here 15 years. Female, 60, ever feel unsafe, even with a halfway house on the corner, but maybe that’s just me, and I’m usually not out very late. There’s a ton more restaurants than when I moved in, which is great. Grocery stores are OK, but Fairway closing was a big loss. Subway access is great, there’s the 1, A, C, D and B trains. Economically it’s a lot poorer than below 110. I moved from the Village and at first that was a relief, not being surrounded by the uber rich, but walking down Amsterdam or Broadway you’ll encounter a number of rougher types. I’ve never been bothered but don’t love it. Never clean and never that quiet, it’s been a lot dirtier and noisier since the pandemic. I came up for the great rent, but 141 is a through street, and now at certain times of the day it’s so insanely loud at I’m desperate to move. (Muscle cars, blasting music, motorcycles, loud scooters.) And at this age I could use a little more upper middle class, and a great not just OK grocery. I’ll repeat, I really REALLY want to move. But it can be a nice place to live, it’s block to block. The City College campus is really nice and peaceful. Look up the Advanced Science Research Center. It’s a CUNY building that’s kind of tucked away behind a wall, but the grounds are super peaceful, with a terrace with chairs, wide lawns, etc.
