Thinking of getting a peloton. Anyone actually experience weight loss and overall health improvement from having one?

I make excuses for not going to the gym and the number 1 being convenience so I figure if it’s in my actual home then I have no excuses!

Be nice, thanks! 😊

My room mate has.

But honestly I don’t think the issue is convenience. You live in NYC, there’s gyms everywhere. You just need to find a type of exercise you actually enjoy enough to want to do every day.

Really great point! I love Barry’s and I was in the best shape of my life when I lived above one 😅 I still go 2-3 times a week

You’ll make excuses not to use it

My advice is to understand if it’s going to be used before you spend $$$$ on it. Perhaps there are cheaper options before you commit to a peloton.

like

Good point! There are some used ones for sale on FB or maybe I’ll find a cheaper bike to see if I really like biking.

I bought a Mirror for this same reason and would highly recommend. Great variety in the types of exercises it offers as well as intensity levels.

like

I like it a lot. Has a lot of options, everything from 10-minute stretching modules to full-on, hour-long kick-your-ass boot camp modules.

like

I have one and I love it! But I loved Peleton long before I purchased my bike so it was a good investment for me. Make sure it’s something you’ll stick with and enjoy or it won’t be worth the cost.

like

Apple Fitness Plus ($79 a year) + a cheap bike or treadmill from Amazon ($400). It’s been working great for me last 2 yrs.

Gym/Physical exercise is not the priority but your food intake. Focus on developing a healthy habit with food and then look into incorporating an exercise regime.

Source: Been losing 5-7 pounds/month by adjusting diet alone with no exercise.

like

Do you like spin classes / is that a workout you’ve been able to do consistently in the past? If you know you enjoy spinning, I think the Peloton has a higher chance of success for you.

I have one. I used it more when I lived in the suburbs during COVID. Now that the weather is warm, I find myself running outside. But I imagine that once the weather drops and we leave the warmer months, it will be my primary source of exercise again

We currently cover ee portion and she pays for 100% of dependent cost. Is it reasonable to ask her to write check back to firm for her portion of dependent premiums? About month ago I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease (CAD) and had to go through cardiac catheterization to get a stent.

I am working hard to stop the progression of disease and potentially reverse it. Hope things work out.
