Painting is quick and easy - takes a day to you it yourself, and you’ll live there for a year or two (or more). Yes, paint the walls whatever color you want.
I papered two rooms with Tempaper - it looks incredible (kitchen & office) and it peels off when you move out. https://tempaper.com/
I only did accent walls and I have 9 foot ceilings so it took about 4 rolls for the office and I did the premium sheets for my kitchen that are basically made to order (needed 2 sheets but cost more than whole office). I fell in love with the office print at West Elm and noticed the same paper, print, and brand was available at Macy’s home and Macy’s had like a million different promos and free shipping so spent under $100. The kitchen was $80+ a sheet but I really liked the pattern and couldn’t find it cheaper anywhere other than thru Tempaper directly. The kit to install was $6 on Amazon.

Definitely check the lease. I allow my tenants to paint the walls if they want, but the lease stipulates that a professional service is required to repaint them back to the original color before moving out. Estimate for that is about $1000 for the entire 800 sq ft apartment.
So make sure you are okay with that if your lease has a similar stipulation.

Well do you mean like touch up paint?

I mean landlords sometimes have rules against this but I've made mutiple changes like this and the only consequence is when you move you may have to pay for a repaint when you leave Which was only 200 for me.
But otherwise it's your home for the foreseeable future make it a home.
You might not get any of your security deposit back, a lot of lease explicitly say if you can’t paint the walls
I’m all for painting the walls if you plan on living there 2 or more years. We painted our living room navy. If you stay at your place for 3 years or more you may be able to negotiate with your landlord to have LL repaint the walls since under the housing maintenance code the LL is required (upon your request) to paint your apt every 3 years.
