Larsen & Toubro Infotech Is it good time to join Cognizant now for Coimbatore location considering too much attrition in recent times along with many policy changes and do they have enough projects or will there be any chance of layoffs if we don't find any projects for our skill(Tableau in my case)? I have another offer with LTI, Coimbatore for same salary but i prefer CTS more than LNT. Cognizant Larsen & Toubro Infotech

Personally I would never do this. When I got laid off, I just set my LinkedIn to freelance for a bit while I searched for a job and picked up projects. I find private reach outs and recruiters work best.
I updated my job title with a post said I was travelling and freelancing for a few months. I hated freelance lol I didn’t realize I would crave more routine and brand immersion. I was booked and busy but I wasn’t making work I enjoyed.
When mass layoffs happen, I get it, there’s a collective experience. People understand it’s a company-wide decision, not a reflection on individuals. Like when Google laid off 5,000 people, other tech companies thought, “These people aren’t the problem, it’s just corporate strategy. I even admire Google and might try to hire one of them.” But when it happens to just one or a small number of people, it feels more personal, and the opportunity to judge them negatively is higher than the benefit. I would rather just reach out to people individually and catch up in real life or on zoom that you’re looking or you may have been let go as opposed to the LinkedIn post version.
Not a bad practice. Just an option. You want to let your network you are open to work.
If you've got a good network, I guess it doesn't hurt to let them know you're available to work. I would still never do it myself. I don't share anything personal on any social media. Just the idea of publicizing a hypothetical layoff makes me uncomfortable.
Extremely uncomfortable. I think this is the best way to go about it. Never know how personal info can be used against you
I have definitely seen it a lot online. I think if you feel you've got a god network on there and you frame it right it can help. Make the post strong and highlight what you were doing and what you want next. Think more cover letter vs diary.
Letter vs diary is a good approach. How would you personally frame it?
It can be an excuse to get your book out there. You can just announce that you’re available and post your book without saying you got laid off.

I highly doubt it helps you find a new job. However, it probably gets you some attention and some camaraderie. Because a lot of people have been dealing with layoffs and misery loves company and all that. But again, I doubt it leads to a new job unless somebody on your LinkedIn followers list is actively looking for employees and happens to see that post.
It’s a mix, probably live a few years ago when there wasn’t so many other people doing the same thing. It’s hard to stand out now with so many layoffs
