Yeah, I’d take the pay bump. I made more as a first year in mid-law in the Midwest
8 years in, I make around $165k with bonuses, MCOL area. $175k sounds pretty good for family law, at least where I live.z
Thanks! I’m in the mid alantic/east coast
Agreed that you need to change. $105 as a 7th year is criminally underpaid. I’m going into my 7th year at approx. $300k and will be closer to $350k TC next year. I work 9-5, no billables.
I made $125k base for 1750 hours as a 1st year and I had bad grades from a mid ranked school for reference.
You’re not in family law. Different industries
10 year family law atty, small city/central Texas, base 175k + bonus availability, decent other bennies
I know a a few high profile divorce lawyers in my city.
I was shocked at what they charge per hour compared to me. They say the rates in family law are very low compared to litigation and corporate work.
Dealing with individuals - not businesses.
So, comparing salaries to those outside of family law is likely not a good comparison.
You’d get at least $150k+ bonus in the NYC area at a family law firm with that level of experience
There’s always more money out there. Wish I had more comps but I’m in a different field. It bums me out to see people so underpaid. $175k sounds like a big jump though so congrats if you have that offer in hand and good luck!
You are tremendously underpaid. 4 YOE MCOL 150k.
I’m 5 years in at 340k, but we litigate constantly
