Absolutely, that would be such a good experience. Processes would work so much better if they got that experience. You don’t know what’s going on behind the scenes in other roles unless you are there firsthand.

Totally agree
Yes, so that they can actually appreciate the people that work in these functions instead of treating them horribly and like they don’t matter. Without ops people no bank can function. It’s an important function that is underrated and underpaid

Same!
Yes. But before becoming one of the chosen finance roles. Not the other way around. You can’t take a skilled finance employee and expect them to go clash like PB&J on the shop floor. What you can do, is ensure your finance leaders will never take sass from Operations, by having them work in lower end multifunctional operations and quality roles before promoting them to a spot of Senior Controllership. Aka, knows just about everything those ops managers know, times 100. That’s how you keep respect. You can disagree, but you can’t tell me I’m wrong.

Yea it’s an early career rotation for sure

I think there’s a lot of value in that. Spending time in operations gives you a much better feel for how things actually work beyond the numbers, and it definitely helps build credibility. It’s one thing to analyze from a spreadsheet, but another to understand what’s really happening on the ground.
