Why do partners tell associates to be cost-conscious when billing for certain clients when they can just cut your hours on the back end?

Do you address it pre-emptively? Or does that show insecurity and you leave the elephant in the room and wait till they ask you?

I’ve received a full time job offer from a company I have worked for remotely for the last 2 years (only traveling for productions), the only catch is I would have to move my life from a nice city with a lot of nature and outdoor opportunities to a large metropolitan city. My partner doesn’t want to move and I don’t think I do either. As a contractor, I work about 60-70 hours per week and have been grinding for two years. The full time people don’t get it any easier. How much should an entry level underwriting manager make? 10 YOE U/w. Personal lines

My dilemma… I am an injury adjuster at a carrier experiencing high inventory that’s barely manageable. A competitor offered a higher salary and manageable workload. BUT, I would like to get into underwriting. I applied for UW position w/ a different carrier and they’ve made an offer. It’s lower than my current salary and significantly lower than what I’d make by taking the first offer. Do I take the high salary and stay in claims or go for UW in hopes it will be best in long run?
