It really depends on what you mean by "nerd" though. From my experience of seeing people ~10-15 years after high school, having good friends and a social life was just as common of a success indicator as was academic achievement.
You will never ever work for a nerd.
You will only work for those with the social skills to be pleasant and social when needed and can understand social cues.
Nerds don't fit that description.
Psychopaths do.
