Stuck “in the middle” 🥴

Mths ago, I put in asks for promo considerations (my team). Budget process, unclear/ ever changing. Bringing it back up for reviews — got answers like “promotions aren’t always the answer to growth” and “weren’t they just promoted two years ago”. Basically “the ship sailed” and now’s not the time. Now, I have to go back to my lead (keeps checking in) to say — Ive got no answers.

There’s no real process. I was told many contradictory things. I feel lost as a leader.

Trying to better understand and educate myself on personal finance and investment strategies. Can someone recommend some recourses (books, podcasts, experts to follow, etc.) where it’s clearly explained for beginners? Trying to make sense of 401Ks, Roth IRAs, emergency funds etc.
Like I’m looking for someone like Dave Ramsey but for investment and money management advice.

I recently interviewed with Natwest and I got confirmation that they wanted to offer a role. Salary negotiations were started. However, now I got an email from the hiring manager that hiring for my role has been paused due to the ongoing cost of living crisis. He expects to resume the hiring for the role in Q1 '23 and would resume the process then. So is it the end? Honestly, I don't expect him to come back. But what do you think?
