What neighborhood are you in? Lincoln Square is definitely going to have more of a Gen X crowd. I love going to breweries in that part of the city, like Half Acre and Dovetail and Delilah's is my favorite bar!
Rainbo Club in wicker, Ginger Man in Wrigleyville.
The bar scene late night is young. If you go out earlier you'll find the older crowd. Phyliss's, Gold Star, Inner Town Pub and Map Room are all wicker Park/Bucktown staples where old and young belly up.
Lemmings on Damen too.
I have kids. You think I’m in the mood to party? I just wanna watch some Netflix after they go to bed. Maybe have a moment to chat with my wife about our day.
Netflix and chill, baybeeeee
Rising Star
Rainbo Club is a decent mix. Many of the staff are in bands and have been since the 90s. And there are several dives nearby. InnerTown Pub, Easybar, Black Hole, Gold Star. Further west you have California Clipper, which has a cool vibe.
I would say Fulton Market District/Randolph St has a more middle aged crowd. But it’s more upscale.
I would have loved Logan Square now if I was still 20 something. But I am the oldest person in any bar on that stretch. Except for maybe The Owl.

Thanks for this list. You're great.
We moved to the suburbs after we all got married. It's quiet, the commute isn't bad and we don't have to worry drunk drivers hitting our parked cars.
I checked out Armitage Alehouse (could not get a table), Scofflaw, Outdoor Voices, Moonlight Bar and Go Liquors Tavern.
Second the Billy Sunday suggestion!
