Terminated months ago, but still on the website. I currently have an offer in place. Will my termination show up on any background check and will my new employer find out I was terminated? Also, would I need to disclose on my resume the month I was officially terminated or can I just put the month I was taken off of the website?

Background checks typically only shows criminal stuff, judgments, and bankruptcies. They’re not as in depth as you think. They mainly just make sure you aren’t a murderer.

What if the job is willing to vouch you are still employed (despite termination if you are in website) can this create an issue?

Can't speak for all companies, but some previous employers would check employment dates but would pass someone so long as the dates matched +/- 3 months.

Can you get the firm to agree to say your departure date was the month you were taken off the website?

Can you also ask them what is told to background checkers? I understand most firms have a policy to only confirm dates of employment.

My suspicion is that it is not in their best interest to tell other firms they’re terminating associates, since it signals financial weakness.

like

Did you falsely state on your resume that you were employed when you were not? Don't do that again. Send an email that says you look forward to starting at the new firm and are already transitioning out of your current firm. But be kinda subtle about it.

If you have an offer, what is the benefit of using the website date as your termination date over your actual termination date? With an offer already in the table why would you lie about something like that?

C1 Actually OP didn't say any of that. Although I do think that those are the correct facts. I was looking for OP to give these facts. But not only is OP being shady here, they are also lying to their potential employer. Hard to give advice when we don't have all the facts. I'd expect an attorney to know better, OP not you.

I didn't know that one, thank you for clarity on background checks

What do you do when you feel the goalpost has been/is being moved re: billable requirements? Like there's a spoken vs unspoken? I chose this job based on billables vs salary and what I'm being told I'm expected to do now is 20-30% (at least) > than what was initially agreed upon. Given my other life responsibilities, this is creating a huge strain & I feel like this is slowly getting harder & harder on my spouse & kids. I'm grateful to have lots of good work but not sure how to course correct.

Negotiating a settlement. I’m at $10k, opposing counsel is at $20k. My client won’t go higher than $15k. OC has come down to 17.5k and says his client won’t budge from that. Do I offer 12.5k so we can hopefully meet in the middle at 15k? Is that how the settlement game is played? Seems dumb we can’t just say let’s meet in the middle now and be done with this.
