Please stop applying to jobs and start networking. Reach out, get on calls, then ask about roles and apply. This is the only method that has worked for me repeatedly.
Definitely not easy to get calls. My point isn’t that doing this is easy, it’s that it’s been most effective for me in this job market.
Also, I’ve learned you can’t measure networking success based on response rate. You have to measure based on absolute numbers - 1 convo a week can be a win depending on your circumstances, etc
Straight up referrals is the way I have done it in every job I have had. However, I have seen some things floating around online about how you can influence the AI that's screening your resume. It's not all about keyword stuffing. It's more about quantity than quality of the words you're putting in there. At least according to someone I saw post.
I would spend less time tweaking and tailoring every resume. Focus all your energy on networking with peoples at the companies you are applying to. Your goal must be to either get referrals or find the recruiter and hiring manager, and then directly email them and reach out. That is the way. Direct outreach and networking. Use LinkedIn, don't be afraid to cold email people, etc. I would consider cold applying practically useless. It sounds like your qualifications aren't the issue, your issue is getting your resume in front of the right person and having it seen by an actual human. I guarantee you that you will start to see results when you do this.
Thanks - I will take your guidance on this and will let you know the outcome
In contrast to the others on this thread, I got my job cold applying on the company website (found ad on LinkedIn). I think I hit at least a couple of the listed qualifications though so be sure your resume has some clear overlap before you bother applying. Of course, I’m sure cold applying is a lower chance of success than referrals. I ended up getting more interviews through recruiters messaging me on LinkedIn, so I’m sure actively networking with them would be helpful, too

What about when you have tapped out your network?
Look for your school alumni that work where you are applying.

I am having the same issue. I have not had an interview in a year. I have years of experience. FDIC, OCC, Compliance, Risk, etc. Many old contacts have left the industry or taken jobs making far less money to survive.
Did you see the recent study that came out that indicated AI tracking systems assign you a rating from the first resume you submit and that is used for other companies you apply for with the same ATS for up to a year? It also discriminates against women and unique names.
Its an AI recruitment game. Dont play it. Go straight to the decision makers. If they're lazy and send you back to AI, move on. This is a problem TA teams and some decision makers have created for themselves for being lazy and AI-illetrate. Their systems are full of AI fine-tuned resumes that can't be any further away from the reality, good luck to them interviewing the 1000 "perfect matches"
