That's true, I was involved in a situation along those lines. I worked for a company that was acquired by a bigger company, and the new people in charge didn't have a lot of patience when it came to some teams. Entire departments were let go in short order. It was like they didn't even want to know who was competent or talented, they just wanted to start over.
That may be true, but people are passed over for a various amount of reasons. Does it mean that it’s gonna stop no, you just figure out the system and work around it.
This definitely shouldn't happen, but it does. And it's unfortunate for the people who are affected through no fault of their own. As a human resources professional, I try to avoid letting this happen if I can help it, but sometimes I can't help it.

I have seen this too. Culture shifts with leadership changes, and legacy hires can feel vulnerable. It reinforces how important visibility and stakeholder relationships are, not just performance.
