Things are so slow I am going insane and don't know what to do.

I lateralled into a Rx group earlier this year. They needed help because they had been insanely busy for them for the last few years. As soon as I joined things have dried up. I am annualizing roughly 1000 hours. Even if there was enough work to make up for my hours hitting target is getting out of reach.

I've been writing articles, doing pro bono, and doing BD. The head of the group won't let me work with other groups.

We are looking to restructure our marketing team (B2B IT services) and one of the questions I have is: how does recruitment marketing / employer branding fit into the marketing team?
Over the last year EB and RM have become increasingly larger parts of our team’s work, but it’s not part of the marketing commercial targets (just helping recruitment meet their targets). Are they completely separate in your company? Or part of the team and if so how?

Was a little sticker shocked $200 per person before gratuity, just adds up quickly with that many people😬 Not requiring it but wanted to offer it if they want to be more glammed up, but now seeing online that’s it’s considered quite rude to not cover it for them? I'm not a reporter, I'm just a citizen who took a picture during an event and uploaded it to my social media account. Turns out a digital media wrote me to have permission to use my picture, and when I said yes, they said they were looking for some other picture because I had already given permission to the competitors, which I didn't.
They just posted it without asking me, letting me know, or even mentioning my credits. Is this legal?

Can you name a firm (preferably NY office) that lets its associates work from a different country with no issues? The mid-size firm I’m currently at has been very flexible during covid but I’m looking to change firm (biglaw). Since my family is abroad I find it extremely valuable to be able to do this (I did this even before covid for a couple of weeks, twice a year). I’ve heard firms like Latham and Paul Weiss don’t allow it for tax reasons.

Would love to hear thoughts on this one. Asking your firm to make sure the hotels at retreats stock quality 0.0 beer or other sober-curious-friendly options. Super progressive or super needy?

Conventional wisdom on current firm counter-offering when mentioning you have a few offers? I have an offer at a large firm in Miami. Current large firm has no office there but mentioned they can likely let me be there in a remote basis. BCG and a few other law blog sites have advised against accepting current firm counter-offers, e.g., likely to leave, not loyal, off partner track, etc., but would love to hear everyone’s thoughts.

I feel like Orrick has such a good rep but in here people seem to complain a lot. Anyone know anything about TCG or corporate?

How many matters is typical for one associate to handle (BL lit)? I know it is group-specific, but just trying to get a general idea. I’m a 2nd year and I am the only associate staffed on about 30 cases-meaning I keep track of all deadlines, do all day to day assignments, keep on top of following up with client/OC, and all research/drafting. Partners handle deps/court but that is about it. Is this a normal case load to be responsible for as a jr? I being dramatic by thinking this is too much?

Already spoke with a partner who wanted something done this morning for him to review and then we discuss again. Sent it to him about 4 hours ago. Should take him half an hour to review max. At what point can I check in with him to see when we can catch up so I’m not waiting in the office all day?

My entire worldview/outlook on my career and what I want has changed since covid happened. Can someone explain what being “of counsel” is like at larger law firms - are they independent contractors? Make their own hours? How do you get a gig like that? I don’t think I want to be a partner anymore.

Is your firm treating 12/26 and 12/27 as firm holiday since the 24th and the 25th are during the weekend this year? Of course client demands would dictate whether people will be working, but curious what the official policy is. For what it’s worth, my firm treated the day after thanksgiving as holiday and I didn’t have to work for the whole day.
