3rd Year v15 Biglaw lit associate, curious what people’s experience with going in house as a litigator has been. For those that have made the switch, did you have a sense of whether it was feasible for you to transition back to biglaw?

I have many litigation friends who have made the in-house leap. Some into roles managing lit, others into broader roles. They seem to enjoy it and wouldn’t want to be back at a firm. It is possible to lateral back though in the right situation. The “right” situation would be a firm with a very specific practice area need or a client development reason (i.e., you can help the firm get hired or deepen their relationship). Regardless of those reasons, your firm might take you back too if they like you. You may have to take a haircut on class year if you do this though.

Very difficult to make the switch as a (non-L&E/IP) litigator, esp. as a third year. I know because I used to be one. It’s not impossible but there are a ton of litigators for each open litigation counsel spot, and these will often want 5-7+ years of experience (because you don’t really get substantive litigation experience as a junior in biglaw). For generalist spots you might be able to make the switch but you’ll be an underdog compared to more transitions-oriented attorneys. Be prepared for it to take months to years to find a good spot.

Agree with this.

Recently interviewed with another company as a Vendor Mgmt partner. Individual contributor, high visible position with potential. Thoughts?

Hi fishes, I need some guidance.

I am currently into the SAP Security domain and I absolutely do not have any interest in it. I am planning to shift to development and have started on some courses on my own.

My question is, is there any future prospects in SAP UI5 and Fiori? Since my background is in SAP, I assume it will make a domain switch easier.

Or should I move into the JS-React path since there seems to be a lot of demand? But my worry is about my lack of actual work experience
