Need help thinking through this…Debating leaving to a tech startup. Very early stage ($3-7M ARR), would have a big role leading strategy and Ops. Thinking of switching employers. Do you think bigger retail stores (the ones that have several locations) are easier or harder to work at than little hole-in-the-wall grocery stores (which is all I've ever done)? My temp contract has been extended. I’m relieved to be able to pay the bills, but after giving 70-80 shots a day, I literally dream about giving vaccines almost every night! Struggling to keep positive about finding a new permanent job - I was laid off at the end of April, have applied to over 60 jobs, had 6 interviews, and no offers. I can’t go back to chain retail - it damn near broke me in my 20’s, and it’s much worse now.

Are there recruiters who specialize in or have opportunities in non practicing attorney or jd preferred roles? I don’t want to litigate anymore but I really need help finding a non practicing role. I wonder if there are recruiters who do this.

I work with great people. Really can’t say anything bad about my firm in general either. But…I still dislike the entire premise of law firm life, the billable hour, etc.. I’d love to work in a law school setting as a counselor or something but I can’t afford the pay cut. *sigh* Does anyone feel like being a lawyer is just doing homework all day? First world problems I suppose. I’m very thankful to have a job ❤️

Giving my notice this week. It’s going to seem very out of the blue as I am a first year associate. I’m leaving to go into a different career path completely. The people are great but I’m just looking for something different. Any advice?

I’m so miserable every day is painful. I want to go tell pre-law school me it’s not worth the debt because you will hate this career and then feel trapped by the debt. And then I want to come back to present day, quit this life-leeching, soul-sucking job and start over doing something else entirely. Too much? Oh well. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
