Yes. I live and work in Orlando. I love my current firm (and also loved my prior firm here in Orlando).
I work in Orlando and we’re looking for an associate. I really like what I currently do bc I have so much free time, strictly work between 8:30-5ish and zero weekends. What field are you in?
That’s amazing do you mind me asking what firm? I’m a litigator and right now doing mostly Labor and Employment
Is anyone actually happy to live in Orlando?
I came here for a job offer, but many years later it has certainly become home.
Dining scene is vastly better than it was when I first got here, with legit quality independent restaurants.
Downtown has boomed, although it’s gotten pretty shady in pockets, and particularly at night.
The economy has diversified a lot, and continues to trend in that direction (although our governor may have cost us several thousand high end white collar jobs via his engagement with Disney). Lake Nona is a legit medical research hub, for example. Big 4 accounting firms have relocated quality back of the house jobs to Orlando.
Politically, it leans blue but has pockets of red and has been a swing part of the state in past elections, so there are diverse views.
And I live in a modern 3500 square foot 5/3.5 with a pool and a years about 2 miles to the central business district, something that you likely would be challenged to find in most medium sized cities.
It’s not clear to me if you’re inquiry is looking for better firms or just wondering if you’re not alone. Either way, I’m curious to read the responses.
I’m in Orlando and it’s taken me the better part of the last 3-4 years to come to terms with the firm I’m at and the tasks I’m asked to work on. I think the bottom line comes down to deciding if it’s you, them, or both. In my situation I’ve determined it’s mostly them but I can choose how to react to and process the situation and so I’m working on that (recovering perfectionist here). Feel free to DM if you need someone to talk to.
I do! DM me if you want other details.
I’m in Orlando and switched firms this year and now I’m so happy and truly love my job. Never settle!!
