Why the blackout? They have no problem advertising themselves doing this, so let them.
You’re right. Here it is, in all its shameful glory.
Digitas Chicago. Typical. This is ILLEGAL DESCRIMINAFIOM Please forward this to the whole world. Get a lawyer.
Yeah, spirit. The law says: don’t discriminate by age. So this recruiter instead discriminated by title, which everyone knows is analogous to age. Any other factors that would give title discrimination the benefit of the doubt does not exist in the job post (it’s 1. a non-permanent gig with 2. the role and 3. the pay clearly laid out).
“along with you portfolio link” - maybe they need a proofreader too.
Digitas has a loooong history of hiring as young and cheaply as possible. I was there when I was 30 and felt old. The number of inexperienced 20-something’s was frightening. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.
No, along came new leadership after Tony Weisman left.
Can one guarantee that individual is not there to steal clients?
That would likely be taken care of in the contract.
^one space after periods. ^last line, change you to yours. Very unimpressive for an ad agency ad to have mistakes in a post, even just for recruiting. So for me, their credibility is shot right there.
Look at all these ageist job ads that limit years of experience. They were posted in the freelancers bowl

It could be because they have those roles filled and don’t want to overlap but agree that it could be worded way better.
Exactly, it should make no difference.
But the common excuse used by recruiters and their companies is that they don’t want to hire “overqualified” people because the company is afraid that the overqualified person would be dissatisfied and quit the job sooner than someone else who is less-qualified.
Freelance implies that it’s already a short-term gig, so that dissatisfaction excuse goes right out the window.
Plus, for the past couple decades, younger people were more likely to be job-hoppers than their older counterparts. So that further negates the “overqualified” excuse.
I remember seeing that. And then swearing. Out loud. VERY out loud.
Hi. Well I think I just tested the “it’s a money thing” theory about going for a lower title freelance gig. I agreed to accept half my hourly rate for a long-term gig at Digitas (and had about five-10 samples relevant to the gig post) and still got passed over. At least the internal recruiter was decent enough to let me know.
Note: i did not say “that’s half my rate.”
