Fund Accounting is literally probably the only thing worse than leaving for an internal audit role...

Don’t do it if you think it’s going to land you a front office job at a fund. 99% chance it won’t and I notice a lot of people take the job because they think it will. If you want to work at a fund you need to be looking for an analyst job now

I think it should replace IFRS

@kpmg1 what makes it that bad?

like

@kpmg1 yes, please let me know. I'm of the thought that you can be stuck at a dead end.

It's dead end slow growth unless you move companies. Also you will only ever work in fund accounting forever.

@PwC2 Yea, that's my thought. They might pay you more in short run, but might not be worth it in the long run

I work for a global, top tier tech/consulting company. Have been there 5 years. I have my MBA. I moved from client delivery into HR role last year. I just received a zero increase to my salary. I am a high performer. I was expecting 2-3% merit . Salary is 93k. Need an honest outside perspective of what to do. I feel as though my loyalty & high performance count for nothing. Insight welcomed.

Which offer should I accept? Currently staff 2 at big 4 in Tax with CPA license. I want to leave tax ASAP. Both are public companies +1B in revenue and same salary. Offer 1 - staff revenue accountant so reading contracts, speaking with the sales team and legal team, a lot of work at the end of the months to close books and reconcile transactions to make sure we are ASC 606 compliant. This track usually leads to director of revenue. Offer 2 - internal audit staff so SOX and compliance projects.

Feel like audit scheduling is always done on a knifes edge in that the timeline and staff schedules are enough so that if everyone works 60 hour weeks and no issues are identified then it can be filed on time. But even small things that increase the work can wildly throw off the schedule and cause hours to skyrocket for the staff on the job. No real point here, just ranting.
