just be prepared to stay at the next shop for 3+ years and you’ll be fine.
Agreed 100%
Leave - a lot of us are in the same boat. When you move try to get more money and don’t look back.
Pro
You have a good reason. Don't sweat it.
Leave. Be prepared to explain the move - that you want to practice x type of law and the move to your next role will allow you to do that.
Leave now.
I left a job for my current one after 3 months for the same reasons. I have been in my current role for 3.5 years. I explained the situation when interviewing at my current role and they totally understood. It is better to leave - I am doing work that is much more meaningful to me now.
I left a job after 10 months for a position I thought was a better fit. Been at the same place now 11 years. No regrets.
Just finished going through this myself. I made the lateral move and was very honest about why I was looking to leave. Didn’t disparage my former employer and they were quite receptive. Did a lot of due diligence on the firm and the type of work I’d be doing.
I’m starting with my new firm in the next couple weeks. Definitely agree with the be committed for 2-3 years advice. I’m definitely well aware that I need to sit my ass down and tough it out😂. But I’m confident in the research I’ve done internally and externally that it’s a good fit.
If my background clears it will be under 3 months lol
It’s cleared btw 😂
if you’ve got interviews set up then i wouldn’t worry too much about it unless it’s coming up during said interviews. if that is the case, i would be honest about your reasons for leaving but without making negative or disparaging comments about your employer. make sure you thoroughly vet your next job + as others have said, make sure it’s a place to where you can dedicate 2-3 years AT LEAST.
