Updating my resume, which hasn’t been touched since law school graduation. As a junior litigation associate, do I need to have any quantifiable metrics on my resume? Other than working on cases and litigation management, I don’t have anything quantifiable so far (defeated $$$ judgment, etc.). Any insight would be appreciated.

Highlight any milestone or unique experiences you’ve had relative to your class peers (or to at least show you are on track). Things like:
- first chaired fact and expert depositions
- argued in court
- any trial experience
- weird stuff like international arbitration

And also highlight industry or field of law experience relative to the role you are applying. Like if you know the target firm has a couple big Korean clients and if you have experience dealing with companies in that region or k ow the language, allude to that.

Hi all! I’m inclined on taking up the CIPM training and certification exam. I’m already a certified Data Protection Officer in the Philippines. I intend on skipping CIPP as it applies to the US and EU.

How difficult was the exam? Can you share your experience studying for the CIPM exam? Is it advisable to skip CIPP?

Many thanks in advance.

Next week I’m having my first lateral interview as a junior associate. I’m very nervous because the group with whom I’m interviewing works with life science/tech clients and the attorneys have strong science/tech backgrounds; and I do not. I interviewed at a law firm and had my final round last Friday. The Tuesday afterward, I got a call from the recruiter saying the firm won’t have a decision for another week. I believe they’re interviewing other candidates. Does that make me second or third choice? And does the fact that I’m working with a recruiter hurt my chances of being selected due to the commission? Should I hold out for the offer or is 1+ week a sign that I won’t be selected?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.
