Was quoted $10k for asbestos removal in denver - is this normal?

I’m in the process of fixing the basement cause of a flood damage. Contractor asked to get the basement tested for asbestos. We got the test results back and 2% chrysotile was found in a joint compound. The estimated quantity was 100sq ft. Should I shop around more?

Anything over $1,000 for something I don’t have experience I always get 3 quotes.

OP, follow this advice. You won't be sorry.

Never hurts to shop around but I’m not surprised by he quote at all. Getting asbestos removed is very expensive.

Also, ask you contractor if you have to hire a third party air quality tester. In NY you have to have them come in prior to the work being started and after. That can be an extra 1k.

I’ve been working for my State Farm agency as a team member for 2 years. I am licensed in property and casualty as well as life and health, but only make $13 an hour. I technically can make bonuses but I’m not supposed to dig into a sale and I have to send it to a sales rep (I am service and retention mostly). My boss also has me running a retired agents office until a new one is chosen (its an hour away with no pay increase or mileage pay). Also, no benefits! Should I start job searching?

I went under contract last fall for a new build that will be done later this year. In the contract the seller/builder included a clause that gave them the ability to change the price without cause anytime before the house is complete. This past week they invoked that clause to increase the price by like 7%, supposedly due to material costs. I can either agree to the increase or they return my deposit.
