Hi fishes, I got 5+ years of work ex of which 2 years was in domain non IT job. While joining Accenture I was offered level 11 (As SAP functional CONSULTANT) while I believe I should be at level 10. Hi everyone, I'm new to Canada and want to start my career here in the Financial and Banking industry. I have passed the CFA level 2 exam and was wondering if I have to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) as most of the job postings here mention about it. I saw that if someone passes at least the CFA level 1 exam then the requirement of CSC is exempted. Can anyone enlighten me about this? As the CSC exam costs above 1000 CAD, I wanted to be sure if I need it before investing behind it.

Does anyone have experience working for a ALSP? How does compensation work (pay and benefits)? Are you an employee or technically an IC? Do you have billable requirements like at a firm? How do you think it prepared you to potentially move in house? I'm currently at a firm but thinking of taking a position with an ALSP but my goal is to go in house.

I started QA at the company I am currently at 3 years ago. Long story short, within 4 months at the company, I was able to make a career change and step into a PM position. Without having the formal education or PM experience, only my 5 years in QA experience. When I started I made $65k and have jumped to $78k. I have seen other companies post $100k+. Annual review is tomorrow. Should I fight for more or look for more somewhere else if I lose that fight?

Planning to exit tech firms as a mid to senior level roles. What are some possible sources I can reach out at to make this happen?

I have been a practicing (patent prosecution) lawyer in different firms for about 20 years. I would love to do something more creative but still techie (computers, telecom, apps, etc.). I've always been interested in improving the software that practicing lawyers use (whether patent-specific or not). I am also kind of an academic at heart, but I live in a locale where professorial jobs are pretty limited and we're rooted here now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

A friend is considering deferring an offer (stem PhD) for 1 year straight out of undergrad to work in NY, either in a research institution or a biotech. She does not have any real work experience outside of her lab (3 years) and an adjacent internship. Another factor is she is just generally feeling burnt out on school after the last few years.
To what extent did you find that a year or two of work impacts prospects coming out of PhD? How might a year off from school impact her PhD work itself?
