Op don't worry about it. My wife regularly would have our daughter in double stroller without my son when he was at preschool. No one ever said anything to her. Second seat was great for picking up groceries.
On a more universal note, don't care what other people think. You will be tired, flustered, dealing with screaming kid(s) that are hungry. You will just get a knowing look from other parents "I feel you"
Not weird at all. And don’t give two hoots about perceptions. If perception is key, get the City Select double stroller. The second seat doesn’t need to be attached and it’s not very perceptible that you’re planning an expansion
My kids are two and a half years apart and the same single worked for both. We did get a modestly priced double for a few months but that was all.
We still use our single regularly despite having two kids
I would also look at when you are going to have the other little monster. If you are going to use the stroller a lot for running/activities, you may need to get another stroller anyway from wear and tear bro.
My stroller had to be replaced after 6 months with light activity and normal transportation use
Get a convertible! We have the uppababy vista (amazing storage basket), similar options available from joovy and others, where it functions as a single stroller (easier to navigate, smaller footprint, easier transport) until you convert it into a double where the 2nd seat is in line with the first.
I just see a single as something with a shelf life and will ultimately be thrown away or take up space
Buy the double. I didn’t and had to buy a whole new stroller 15 months later!
Not sure if it’s worth all the questions of where “the other baby” is
When we had our first (now 11 months ago) I bought a cheap Graco jogging stroller travel system. Open box on Amazon was just over $200 including a second base. It's been awesome. I was given a very nice double (non-jogging) stroller later that will be perfect once we have our second.
My thought was similar to yours that the single may have a limited shelf life, but not necessarily. There's always the option of using a sling for the smaller kid.
We regularly drop off one of the kids at daycare or grandparents and the single is much easier to tote around
Depends on your expected gap - if you think they’ll be close then getting the double might be better but they do tend to be a lot heavier and less manoeuvrable. I’ve seen a lot of instances where the older kid just stands on a buggy board with the younger in the buggy.
Our two are 18 months apart and we generally stick to our nice single buggy but have also got a cheap double that gets used occasionally. It’s really easy to flip the single to suit either child so with that and a baby carrier the double really doesn’t get used that much
You need a double baby for a double stroller. It’s in the instructions.
Completely normal. If you’re going to drop $600 on piece of equipment, it should expand (or not) to fit your needs We live in Chicago, and didn’t have a car until after #2 was born. Stroller was an integral part of our transportation/commute. Definitely shopped on the basis of “best stroller for 2 kids” and wanted one that was nominally expandable to 3 (ie kickboard). #3 otw and CitySelect is still going strong
BCG1 those are jogging strollers?
Gave my wife options and she’s between the Joovy Zoom 360 and the BOB Rambler
EY 1, we have a regular stroller now, looking for one that can function as a jogging stroller as my wife is a runner
Ive used the BOB - it’s definitely big. I call it the Hummer if strollers. However, it’s flexibility and maneuverability belies the size. We loved it in the city even if it was hard to fit into public transportation. Not sure of the ability to expand to two
