We recently hired a manager to transition some of my responsibilities to (I’m head of finance at my org); I should be transitioning the other to members of the department (AP and AR) to report to the manager instead of me… but it just feels weird. I’ve done a lot of mentoring with them and seen a lot of growth happening and it’s not like I won’t see them anymore, lol.
How can I best make this transition happen for all involved?

I think you need to make sure the new manager knows how you feel about those people and that the transition may be a bit difficult for you, and ensure they that you don’t want to get in their way or disrupt their new flow based on your previous relationships. I think making it known will makes everything easier for all parties. And of course, ask how you can support them in the transition.

Just curious for my managers, associate directors, directors out there…how many years experience would you say is standard between promotions? hi guys! i wanted to ask for advice if anyone can help. currently i’m a scientist at a CRO and i’m doing work that is at least a title or two above mine. feels like im overworked and underpaid. i keep getting rejected to positions i feel like i can fill due to my years of experience. i technically only have been working since may 2020. but i have learned so much so quickly, im already doing method development/discovery work. should i settle for a job title below my current in pharma?

So happy to finally be posting with my new title! I’ve been looking to get into a Product department since early 2020. In my case resilience was key in the face of constant, daily rejections. Also I’m in my 40s so don’t lose hope! It’s never too late to pivot your career.

What is your best advice for moving into data science without going back to school for a masters?
I have an engineering bachelors and my mba, and want to move into the data science and analytics side of things in the long term.
I’m currently in Strategy Consulting and I find it too functional and hypothetical/theoretical/ high level. Looking for advice on resources, timelines, skillets, building connections/network, things to consider, moving forward /path of last resistance, etc etc

So, a recruiter gave me feedback that my lack SPHR or SHRM-SCP is causing my resume to be knock out by AI and human recruiters despite my position and work history in Multinationals and being in Technology. They suggested that we put SPHR ( Lapsed). I let it lapse in 2017. What is your opinion? Plus if I were to take another certification - should I take SPHR or SHRM-SCP?

Considering joining a small 50-person company as the only attorney (prior attorney is retiring). (I am currently in-house at a F50). For others who have done the same path, what surprises did you have when moving from a large company to a small one?

For example, it sounds like I should not expect a document management system, based on a prior post in this bowl. I’m guessing expenses like state bar fees and cell phone are not reimbursed.

Any advice on things to expect (or not expect)?

I’m in big law and on the cusp of making the jump to in-house. It sounds like the company I just interviewed with is getting ready to make me an offer. It’s definitely going to be a pay cut coming from big law but I do get some nice equity in the company. Is the jump worth it? I’m so burnt out by big law and this seems like an awesome opportunity to help shape a newish company. Any tips on how to figure out if this is the right move for me?
