Work on you. Work on your relationships. Work on who you aspire to be. You’ll get more jobs/titles. You’ll get more money. You’ll get more problems. But all that work on you is what truly helps you earn, navigate, and love it.
Oh, and we’re all faking it, so know you’re not alone
The 2yr mark is when I started training (officially and unofficially in more of a mentor fashion) new hires and more junior staff.
Consider specializing if you haven’t already. And if you have specialized, look for ways to advance your subject matter expertise. Do you have a strong ‘thing’ that you’re known for/ could be known for?
Just about everyone has imposter syndrome at some point, some for longer than others, so don't let that get you too worried. Don't feel bad about now knowing everything, that's just impossible, as you'll be exposed to so much. But try to make progress all the time. You don't need to feel like you have to have all the answers right away, but keep track of how you're improving and work on areas where you think you need it. And be open to feedback, if you're not getting feedback that's helpful try to solicit some. And try to delve deeper into an industry you find fascinating or have some affinity for.
I agree with the first comment. Spend time working on developing you and your skills so that you gain that confidence. Take on extra projects, go to seminars, get certifications, etc. Anything you can do to focus on you and your career will help you gain that confidence.
Sometimes I feel really confident in my work and other times I genuinely am curious if I have any idea what I am even doing. Really does happen to the best of us. Use it to your advantage in the sense there is always more to learn and grow from, but don’t let it hold you back. You are your own worst critic.
