Toronto ad fish 🤠 I’ve spent most of my career working as a copywriter in London (6 years here, 2 years Toronto) and the market is pretty different here. I’m planning on moving back home but wondered….how do you find work in Toronto? Agencies barely post openings, is the recruiter scene strong? Is it mostly who you know?

100%. The only caveat I’d add is it can be worth it if you’re desperate. Know you won’t be the exception and be prepared to deal with major bull shit if you absolutely have to.
Full-time gives the illusion of security and freelance gives the illusion of freedom.
No one is safe, just do what you think is right.

I’d tell myself to stay away from agencies.
Work client side or stay away from Marketing altogether and go into accounting, consulting, or finance.
Why not change now? You’d have to take a pay cut to start, but don’t work in an industry you don’t want to for the $20k difference for 2 years.
To be braver and bolder, sooner. I had some pretty bad imposter syndrome which held me back. I was/am just as talented as everyone I was so intimidated by, it just took me longer to grow into than it should have. Feeling a bit behind these days because of it.
