Hi all! I’m looking to connect with folks who either work at Coinbase or have interviewed recently for the Business Operations and Strategy Manager or similar role. I am looking to schedule my first interview which I believe is a consulting style case. So any details you can provide, I am all ears. The next interview will be a presentation. Again if you have any experience/advice on this, I’m ready to listen.
Thanks in advance! Help me escape Deloitte pleaseeee. I want this job sooo much!

What's the salary range for a director at the Gilead Sciences foundation? There is a position perfect for me, but I don't want to throw my hat in the ring if starting salary isn't $180-190k. Also, any thoughts on the stability of their philanthropic commitment? There's talk of a recession; I don't want to go private to be cute a few months later.
What should my requested salary be for a Senior Intelligence Analyst position with CrowdStrike ? I have a bachelors degree and 5 years of experience as an intelligence analyst. Current salary is 56k in NC, but when I was in DC I was making 86k (big locality change)… which makes me confused on what I should expect for a remote job.

There are lots of red flags that may be waved, but one that always stands out for me would be oddly vague answers. For instance, if you ask what success would look like and you can't get a straight answer, that's problematic. Another one would be indications that poor planning would mean people get stretched to their limits. That shows up when they say things like the team "does whatever it takes," or a new hire "will wear many hats."
a similar one is "massive turnover;" if 50% of the staff have left the company in the last 18 months, that is a terrible sign
I hate it when I ask about the interviewing or hiring process timeline and the interviewer can't provide a clear answer. When this happens, I know the organization probably takes forever to make some basic decisions.
another red flag is a huge mismatch between the position description and the interview. if the interview questions don't match the written the description, that is a bad sign
Ask them how long the previous person held this position? Several people in several years is a red flag. If they roll through a list of names who have sat there, there is some high turnover, or they always say the previous people left for personal reasons, it is likely a dark place to work or a grunt position and they are trying to find a way to put the lipstick on the pig. The only green light answer to this is she got promoted, or moved out of state.
Another is when they say YOU have to be physically here all day from open to close while "WE" get to hybrid work or float in and out at will.... they have a very "WE/THEY - better than you" mentality and work environment. They will have no desire to train you or grow your position.
I works for a company that was like that there were four people before me and the job description was NOT what I was doing! It was very stressful and now I feel scarred to even look at another position like that one because the training was awful and was left on my own many times trying to figure out what to do.
A big red flag is taking a long time betweeen applications closing and taking applicants to interview. Additionally the relevant contact person not being able to describe their BI strategy/business plan.
Some of the red flags I’ve seen over the years are: Not being able to contact the person ‘setting up your interview’ two days beforehand. Getting replies like, Steve’s gone on vacation - I know it does sound funny - but why did Steve have to leave in such a hurry? Is he still in the country or is he living under an assumed name somewhere else? Cancelling your interview the day before, all of a sudden the Hiring Manager, Terry discovers your interview clashes with another appointment he already had that day… but he will get back to you, uh, sometime to reschedule. You never hear from Terry again. Maybe he’s moved in with Steve? If you are given vague directions to the building where the interview is taking place. I’ve been to some very run down interview buildings having spent 2 hours on Google Maps trying to find ‘this joint’. Metal shutters on the doors and windows, no one around, keep calling the number and it going to answer phone… on the morning of my interview. Putting statements such as ‘ full training will be provided’ in the job listing. Translated into English that means, here’s a list of YouTube videos, knock yourself out pal. On their website you don’t see anyone over 30 years old in ‘the team’ photos < do not waste your time applying to these companies. Finally, everyone must be on camera for the initial meeting. Really? That wouldn’t be to bypass age discrimination legislation or your face doesn’t quite work for our organisation?
