What are your routines for cleaning up after indoor recess?? My class gets so energized and loud during this time, and as they come to the carpet they are still having lots of sillies 🤪

I put on a cleanup song and they have to have everything put up and sit quietly on the carpet before the song ends. I then pick the "quietest" student to start our quiet game. The first person looks at all the rest of the students and then points to the quietest one who then goes up to the front and this continues until everyone is picked. If they are moving or making noise they cannot be picked. I can usually grab my stuff and get ready for the next activity while they do this. It's amazing how much they like this game. This also works if someone comes into your class and you need to speak to them. Just pick someone and tell them to start the "quiet game." Hope this helps.

We have sales people in Canada and the US, the Canadians make 150K CAD and down here it’s 150K USD, the Canadians argue they should be making 30% more than the US colleagues to be equal bc of the exchange! I explain the salary is dependent on the market data for them in Canada, WHERE THEY LIVE, and you can’t compare it to the US employees and the market data down here. Overall they are both in the 75th% for total comp. for their industry. Am I wrong?

Anyone in early stage biotech? I’m looking at a BD role for a well financed (~$150M runway) startup with some preclinical programs and a unique development platform. What are some key risks to consider when taking roles like this? I’m overly excited and want to make sure I’m asking the right questions before committing myself to this.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

How the heck can I teach a kindergartener over the computer? It's all hands on in my class for the first couple of months. I have made and bought so many manipulatives but I can't send twenty home with the kiddos. Do five and six year old kindergartners eat pencils? Seriously… I think I sharpen 50 pencils per day!🤣

I HAVE AN INTERVIEW ON TUESDAY FOR A KINDERGARTEN POSITION BUT I'M PRETTY TERRIBLE AT INTERVIEWS 🤦 SO IF ANY TEACHER OUT THERE HAS ANY QUESTIONS THEY THINK I'LL GET ASKED OR ANY HELPFUL WORDING I CAN SAY TO INCREASE MY CHANCES OF GETTING IT THAT WOULD BE SUPER #TEACHERHELP

Really struggling with a few students in my kindergarten class this year and looking for suggestions. I've been teaching K for 10 of the 16 years I've been a teacher, and have never felt as disrespected by students as I do this year. Several students continually talk, yell, and laugh over me, or make noises when I am talking. They are sent away from the group to reset and make a better choice, but usually continue when they return. Parent contact has been supportive, but hasn't helped.

Is it fair for divorced parents to take up two parent/teacher conference slots? I don’t think it is. I would love to hear your thoughts about this and how it os handled at different schools.
