No, you are not wrong. The Canadian employees are looking at the base salary without taking into consideration the cost of labor in the US and the limited social safety nets that are enjoyed in Canada.
Exactly! Not to mention we pay 100% for supplemental benefits for them since it’s not unusual for employees to have secondary plans besides the national healthcare. Our US employees have premiums over 600 for family coverage.
Not at all. I really don’t see the point in their argument. Do the Canadian reps sell to Canadian accounts only?
Yes, they are direct sales reps for Canadian accounts only.
I agree with the pay difference. The fact that the number itself is the same (150,000) may be the cause. Perhaps making that number different would help.
Possibly, I’m just sick of hearing the same argument repeatedly 🙄
Well, 150k a year is going to stretch differently depending on where you live. If you live in NYC, a comparable market in Canada would be Toronto. If you live in Kansas or something well..then I can understand the argument if you are a Canadian living in Toronto. Depends on location within the country to make it "fair".
Also, if you were to convert the currency in USD to CDN, you'd be making much more.
Location based comp happens all the time. It’s not a new concept.

You are right. Essentially the market is how much it’s gonna cost you to replace them.
