We had to set appointments outside of live sessions to assess. Fortunately our district purchased ESGI and only required us to test letter names and sounds at this time. We share our screen with the letter presentation and assessed like that. If you don’t have ESGI you can make a PPT or Google slides presentation with one letter let slide and share that through your screen and assess that way too
Hi! We are hybrid and synchronous where I teach. We have one day each week when we are fully remote. For our first round of assessments in the fall, each teacher assigned activities for the students to do at home through google classroom on the remote day. It took 3 remote days to complete all 21 of my students’ assessments. We had students join us 1:1 over google meet at pre-scheduled times. We made google slides and presented them over the meet to assess letters and sounds, number ID, sight words, shapes, and colors. The rhyming assessment was modified to be all verbal. (Students were asked to tell if pairs of words rhymed or not, and were asked to generate their own rhyming words). For concepts of print, each student was given their own copy of a paper book and was asked to answer the questions and shown us by angling their computer camera down so we could see then pointing to features of the book. We also have a math assessment that we administered this way- over google meet, 1:1 while the rest of the class completed asynchronous work. It took a very long time, but it did give me some valuable information about their skills. For our winter assessments, I am assessing my hybrid students when we are together in class and inviting my remote students to make appointments and come to school on our remote day so I can more accurately assess their reading skills. I hope this helps!
