In my experience S1-S2 should feel comfortable owning a databook and working files details, managing VDR and the offshore team, coaching new staff/intern on the basics, contributing to the agenda/request list/reports, while S3-S4 should starts owning the agenda/request list and maybe starts contributing to the mgmt calls and the above
At RSM deal teams are very lean, more so than Big4 in my experience. Most deals consist of 1 SA and 1 Director. Director are often on 3-4 deals at a time so the SA is expected to run 90% of the deal. Expect much less support and hand-holding in MM.
I'd say this would be true for many add-on deals but not platform deals or sell-sides. Those will have a manager generally.
I was a senior in big 4 and actually felt i was left to "figure it out" more than the seniors in my region at rsm, but that's pretty deal/experience specific
Run a deal ? not at big 4, yes at A&M. seniors at big 4 focus more on owning the databook than anything really - at least that’s been my experience - currently senior 3 at EY
My experience at GT has been a bit different where S2-S3 are leading the whole deal while owning the databook
Expectations vary. I expect a new senior to own the databook, offshore communications, knowing the data and details. Experienced seniors up for Manager? Less guidance needed, can lead partial management calls, more independent
