I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?
Or shall I just start new email thread and mention how I know them?

I think it's the new HR. They needed a new dept where they could shunt the unproductives and DEI hires and keep them distracted with largely pointless busy work.
Agree. This is a good take. It just seems to tax the system even more with little to no value.
No way lol but I keep that to myself

People fixate on the S part of ESG and generally ignore the G part which, I believe, is crucial regardless of where your politics lie.
That said, most organizations see it more as a reporting exercise rather than actually making material changes to their business based on these KPIs.

@PWC2: yup… that said, people who dismiss it out of hand because it was a regulatory mandate miss the obvious opportunity for better investor visibility into the effectiveness of management and the chance to mitigate the risk of serious management malfeasance.
When you look at the ground reality of all these sustainability talks, they are just trying move their share emissions to someone else in the value chain. Taking the load off from their annual report.
Take the case of EV or hydrogen fuel. Everything is same.
100% agree
I would hope to see ESG banned. It’s useless and arbitrary.
That’s what they said about the internet. I bet dollars to donuts you will be eating those words. Sustainability/ESG is the next big driver that will disrupt sectors. Those who can change will make it, those who can’t will become dinosaurs like blockbuster and Kodak. Do you see how much VC and PE money is going in to clean tech? Those are the Netflix’s of the future.
EY1 - tell me that when were forced to phase out natural gas and oil in favor of unreliable energy and you can’t heat your home or drive your car.
Fake news
Will be hard to create an objective measure of “good” without being dogmatic about it. That being said, seems to be an empirical relationship with risk. People see ESG as like a pro-noun committee but really it’s checking to see if a company has had credible corruption allegations, is poisoning a local water way, or has a sexual harassment problem. All of these things could obviously spell trouble for the company with the wrong publicity and lawsuits.
