Forwarded from a friend, is this true?Barclays

For PwC fishes who left recently, how did you consolidate wealth builder into 401k within benefits express to avoid the 20% federal tax withholding that was described in the benefits package? I tried to do this online but it didn’t show as an option except to rollover to an existing IRA or take a final distribution. Do I need to call benefits express?

Teach, motivate, lead by example, engage with them
First of all there should be no excuse for not joining meetings/finishing work on time. We’re currently in an unprecedented time and it may be very difficult for a lot of people so we need to be mindful of that. Your first year might be struggling. What might help is working it with them. First year might be overwhelmed or not really know to finish wp’s. When this happened one a job, my partner told me to be more proactive helping the first year, sit next to them so you can see what they’re working on, check in every few hours to see how the progress is going. Can’t do that now. But could have them work on something for an hour or two then you can have them come back with questions. Seems like you might have to pick up a bit of slack on their part. But if you work it with them and make them feel supported, they’ll definitely appreciate a lot more. Other than that, send an email to the manager and partner.
There's that "unprecedented" again...
This may sound crazy, but block off a chunk of time on both of your calendars, early in the morning would be a good time, but an hour or 2 for sure. Get on MS Teams or a Webex/Skype session. Have them share their screen and call it a working session. You review WPs, respond to emails, work on your own work, but at any point, they can ask a question, show you what they are working on, you can observe to see if they are being super inefficient and offer tips, etc.
That’s for them not getting the work done. Missing meetings should be unacceptable and you need to tell them that. If it continues, you should let your manager and their counselor know.
Hand holding sucks virtually, but it is possible.
Good advice EY
Maybe they need more coaching. I can totally see how wfh is very challenging for associates. Hold them responsible, communicate that the work needs to get done, and offer coaching
Right!! They need coaching and solid leaders! Not like these other seniors became amazing on their own
One other thing you could do is make the first year create the tracker and update it daily, so they have a sense of everything that needs to get done and help keep themselve accountable.
As a staff this was my job, it was always my last priority so I never got to it and no one ever followed up because also other priorities. This works for certain staff but not all teams.
Create a tracker with activities, responsible (first year ass) and deadlines?
To reiterate here, tell your staff that the excuses are unacceptable and that the work must be done when they agreed to have it done. It’s not just his ass on the line if deadlines are missed, it’s yours as well. Don’t let them mess up the quality of your work product.
My staff is the same. I ask her to just tell me a deadline she’s comfortable with, and tell her it’s not acceptable if we miss it again. But yet every time when it’s the deadline she’ll be like well idk what else to do, I just can’t get it done
Maybe asking a first year associate whose (presumably) new in the industry to set their own deadlines isn't a good idea. might have to break those goals down into smaller bits.
I think try to make more time for the associate to perform the task. Like try to introduce the assignment earlier so they have more time to ask questions. First years need to be motivated to improve and this comes from support from the higher up. Remember when you were a first year? It’s intimidating starting out so be nice and try to be more understanding. Everyone makes mistakes at first.
