Wanted to highlight Prudential Financial’s hiring practices. They rescinded my offer once I attempted to negotiate the salary. The official reason given was that I didn’t “sound excited enough”.
They then admittedly gave the offer to someone who was less qualified. There were other red flags throughout the job offer process that the HR team should overall be ashamed of.

Hey op... keep your head up. Sometimes jobs out of the big four are completely different from what you were doing before. The important thing to remember is that they hire big for people because they tend to be hard workers that are constantly learning something new. Just be coachable and you’ll get it down before you know it.
Senior Associate 1, you must be having a horrible day/night, be a bitter person or both. Either way, it’s ugly and won’t do you good in life. You’re clearly empowered by the anonymity FB provides. Remember, you really weren’t obligated to respond to this post, so scram.
OP- it’s perfectly normal to that the learning curve is steep, as there is one for most new jobs. You’re just 3 weeks in! You were smart enough to make it as an auditor and get your CPA, so this is just another challenge for you to get through. See this as being the adjusting period and keep working hard — before you know it, things will normalize and it won’t seem as hard!
Rooting for you!! 👏🏼
So many nasty jerks on FB tonight..... 🤦♀️
OP hang in there, it’s always scary going into a new situation and then having to learn new concepts... you will get the hang of it in time. Take some deep breaths! You are gonna be fine 😉
@ consultant 1 & senior manager, thanks for your kind words.
Senior associate, your response is very nasty and distasteful. Associates leave PA every day bcos of ppl like you. You should be ashamed of yourself.
OP, keep hanging in there! Things will get better.
Left PwC to become an analyst about 4 months ago. Felt like I really started hitting my stride about a month ago, where I could figure out how to address new problems without having to ask too many questions. Just keep trying and you'll get there!
It's normal hang in there. Even going from one audit industry to another can make you feel like a staff all over again if you're unfamiliar with the practices and procedures.
You'll be okay but just keep in mind there's a learning curve and you may not be a superstar right away.
OP: are you at EY?
