What do you do to decompress outside of work? For me, it’s running; just getting outside and switching off after a day of screens and deadlines makes all the difference. I find it’s usually the only time I can really clear my head from the pace of digital media. What’s your go-to way to unwind after work?

For me it’s cooking. I like the ritual of chopping, stirring, and tasting — it slows me down and forces me to focus on something simple. By the time dinner’s ready, my brain feels calmer. What’s your favourite meal to cook?

I love cooking but I have to admit I’m more of a lazy chef… I do however love baking when I can, same thing for me where it slows me down

I got into mountain biking a couple years back and it has been the ultimate mind release. If you take your focus off the trail in front of you for even a second, you're going face first into a tree. Ask me how I know 🤣

Hahah sounds like fun even with the potential face planting a tree

Just getting my phone away from me is the best way to disconnect. Look up and around instead of doom scrolling all night, which I have absolutely done many times before.

Haha we’ve all been guilty of that but just taking a break from it definitely helps

Hitting the gym and reading. Physical books, not ebooks. My eyes and mind both need a break from screens at the end of the work day.

Reading is so important for me, I read on my commute but I always try to read before bed so I’m not just scrolling on my phone

I usually go for long walks with music on. It is the only way I can properly switch off and reset. Running sounds intense but I get the same clear-headed feeling from walking.

I used to hate running but I mainly just take it slow to find that enjoyment - I do love a long walk though

Binge watching reality TV, it's all silly and nothing has any meaning and I love it!

Oh I get this! It’s so easy to turn off your brain with reality tv!

The argument that climate change is not man-made has been disproven by science over and over again, yet many people believe that the global crisis is either not real, not of our making, or both, in part because the news media deliberately chooses not to talk about it because it doesn't sell enough.

"Don't Look Up" is as real as it can be.

Journalism is the best job in the world but I feel like people are less likely to take my work seriously because I am female. So it's like they automatically think the only things I would be good at writing about are fluffy little human interest stories. I'm just a reporter like everyone else. Is there some way I can tell my supervisor that yes, I do like those stories, but I like being a serious reporter even more?

Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I'm a reporter with more than 32 years of experience and I feel that, lately, local television news has been kind of dead, but I am pleased to fight for it from my local newspaper. Locals love to see someone from their own town succeeding or finding out something inspiring.

I am a firm believer that this will not change for a long time, local TV will continue to live as long as we stand for it.
