I’m finding that traditional news becoming obsolete is leading to management taking their frustrations out on staff. The result is a mass exodus in the industry, at least in my area. Are you experiencing the same?

Absolutely, traditional news is no longer news and that is why we have media that strive to inflate the news to make it more sensational.

Many of the media are going through the same thing and in one way or another the owners of the media want to be more media-oriented, the only way they can think of now is to be tabloids, that is, changing the news to make a show, why not make them recognize us? for being serious and for objectively communicating truth.

We experience a lot of frustration from our bosses because the local newspaper that competes with us fills its timeline with fake news, we don't do that and our editor protects us from doing that, but on the other hand, there is management asking for "better news", the news they are what they are, you can't lie to get people to come to us.

I have to say, this happened at my job 1 year ago when they changed the editor-in-chief, we began to have "true news", which is nothing far from reality, the news becomes false in the title, and even more, fakes in development, the numbers increased but then fell back sharply.

There are two options, either you become a sensationalist medium with fake news or you maintain a serious institutional image as it should be, I know that the second one may sound economically unattractive, but it is the one that will give you more duration over time as a respected institution.

Greatness as a means of information is given by credibility, nothing more than that, but management does not understand that and wants to make a joke out of a means of communication with fake news, what a pity, I understand your position.

So i have been fortunate that i have managed to go through my career without the need for a degree. I was lucky enough to have been hired by one of the worlds top consulting firms, worked with a whole lot of big clients and travelled a lot. It's gotten to the point where I am not even asked about the lack of a degree on my resume. Personally though, it bothers me. I have a whole bunch of certifications in my industry…but just no formal degree. (cont'd)

A report opened to me that they are having money problems and wants a raise. We are remote and they moved to a high CoL city. We gave an increase to help with retention 6mths ago. In my response, I helped mentor with best practices on how to ask for a raise professionally since I need to make a case to my Head on finances. But their performance has been avg and not seemingly worthy of another large raise within a short period of time. But how do I respond when they talk about personal finances?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important. I hope this nostalgia goes away soon.
