What I want and what your employees want may be 2 different things. The jobs that I have loved have always been flexible and predictable.

So true!
I think what most employers want is to be taken seriously. To have their work considered and not dismissed casually, and to feel like they're part of a team and they have a future with the organization. That sounds fairly basic and simple, perhaps, but that sort of atmosphere can seem elusive.
Coach
Yes love this
All of the above. Treat your employees like people, which means that sometimes people get sick, or some might benefit from more flexibility than others. Flexibility, especially the ability to work from home as often as I want, is the reason why I personally love my job.
Coach
Amazing! Agreed
Compensation, work life balance and the opportunity to grow. Pay your people well, respect their time and professional abilities, and give them the chance to do impactful work. Everything else is fluff.
Coach
I wish I had more control over compensation! But yes to all
Value employees by paying them above the market average. They'll not only love their jobs, they'll be loyal and dedicated to them. Offer them a WFH option as well 👍🏻

Compensation is huge for me, but not the only thing. I believe people take jobs because of the salary, they leave because of their bosses. Other than compensation, I think developing leadership skills in your supervisors is big factor in employee happiness. I’ve had some awful roles in the past but I believed in my leader and my team and have fond memories of the work.
Coach
I don’t have a ton of control over compensation but I can still ensure they get bonuses and promotions
Coach
I wish I could offer them wfh!
The fact that you’re thinking about how to make your employees lives more enjoyable (esp in an age where it feels like companies are doing the opposite) is highly admirable!
For me: Work/life balance, support when needed, environment is a safe space and ofc compensation :)

Also, do you have a lever to pull on equity? I’ve been granted either options or RSU (restricted stock units) in all of my jobs based on performance. Definitely kept me motivated!
