It's a double-edge sword, it's good that things don't fall into boring patterns. But the scheduling issue you mention is always problematic. And there's the issue of just always having to get up to speed quickly on one thing or another. Even if it's suddenly learning people's names, I feel like I'm always assimilating information and making my best effort to retain and make sense of it.
This can get very exhausting, but does keep it interesting, especially if you’re someone who likes to learn. The worst part is when you become an expert in something, only to never use the knowledge again.
I think it’s the demands of clients/partners and the urgency at which things need to be addressed. I’m always waiting for a call or email with some new thing I need to do or revisit something I thought we had moved on from. This also means doing work proactively to avoid these situations.
