Depends on your state rules including ethics rules. But more importantly, you want your name off to avoid anyone else’s liability for malpractice. Tell the firm you are filing a withdrawal and ask who you list as the attorney of record. Most states require that the withdrawal note that or whether the client is now pro se. Ask them to notify the clients and attest to you in writing that they have done so.
You will need to also confirm what the process will be to clear conflicts when you start your next gig.
I can tell you this because I left a big firm, passed my cases to the new associates taking them over, but the new associates never filed “notice of change of attorney within the same firm”. It is the firm’s responsibility. You should go ahead and update the email address that is registered to/associated with your e-portal account because it is YOUR account and you don’t want to lose access to it if they go in there. They need to file the change of attorney notice on all the cases still active that you were handling.
If you want to be kind, you can keep an eye out and make sure to forward any service notices that you receive where you see no other firm emails/other firm employees were served. But it’s on them. Best of luck.
I believe it’s the firm’s responsibility.
Call your state bar for ethics guidance on it.
Depends on your Bar. For example, in FL, both the attorney that is leave and the law firm owner have to jointly send a letter to all clients and let the clients pick whether they will stay or go
What was reason for your termination?
You should move to withdraw from any cases in which you filed a personal appearance. If the court uses firm appearances, then it's not your problem.
